Rebuilding iur.crowd’s
Legal Analytic Tool
When my collaboration with iur.crowd began, the startup was grappling with early-stage challenges that appeared daunting to overcome. The product's value was not resonating with users for several reasons:
Lack of User Persona: Without a defined user persona, the product lacked direction.
Unclear User Journey: Users found themselves lost, struggling to navigate towards insights.
Absence of Usability Tests: Instead of comprehensive tests, only product demonstrations were conducted.
Weak Voice of User: Users were never observed in their process to identify their needs and preferences.
To pivot the product towards a user-centered approach, I conducted an in-depth evaluation by synthesizing insights from both existing and new user interviews. This process enabled us to craft a robust user persona, providing a clear roadmap for users seeking insights into court judgments. Through two iterative rounds of usability testing, followed by thorough analysis and subsequent design adjustments, we initiated a comprehensive overhaul of iur.crowd, giving it a fresh look and feel. As a result, the user experience saw a remarkable improvement, with a notable 79% increase*.

Simplifying Search Functionalities
My initial usability testing revealed a critical issue: users were confused by the dual search bars, one for cases and one for arguments. This was a major obstacle, as argument extraction is a core feature of Iur Crowd. The existing design had prioritized the feature's functionality over the user's workflow, leading to unnecessary complexity. By reframing the design to focus on the user's needs, I aimed to create a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.
The Old Home Screen:
The user did not understand how to use the interface and were constantly confused.
Users felt lost and disoriented when interacting with the existing design. The lack of structure and clear guidance led to a frustrating experience, with users wandering aimlessly across the screen without finding the information they needed. By introducing a logical information architecture and intuitive navigation, I aimed to create a design that would effortlessly guide users to their desired outcomes.
The old Search Results Screen:
The user did not understand how to extract the information he needs or how to refine the search results
By introducing a streamlined, intuitive user journey, I significantly reduced the time it took for users to find the information they needed. This design overhaul not only accelerated the user's path to success but also alleviated pain points, leading to a more seamless and enjoyable experience.

Building on this foundation, I further refined the design by incorporating key learnings from user observations and error analysis. The resulting UI boasts a high-quality aesthetic, carefully crafted to present information at the right moment and in the right order, perfectly synchronized with the user's workflow.

Outlook
The swift transformation of the user experience was a testament to the power of user-centered design. In a short span, we were able to significantly enhance the usability and overall satisfaction of Iur Crowd, bringing joy to both users and the entire team. While this accelerated pace of improvement may not be sustainable in the long term, I'm excited to explore the numerous opportunities for further optimization, ultimately positioning iur.crowd to rival the industry's top performers.

"Sören Hädelt took our product design to the next level. Firstly, he identified the most relevant user persona for us, and based on that he determined the actual user journey and suggested improvements. The usability tests carried out together with Sören, which he meticulously prepared and analysed, were a real game changer. As a result of his work, we were able to increase the value of our product by 79% within 6 weeks! I was also particularly impressed by Sören's intrinsic motivation, he always went the extra mile."
